Best Places To Visit In Denmark

If you’re considering visiting Denmark, you’ll be rewarded with a country that is overflowing with a rich history, vibrant surroundings, amazing architecture, etc. Located in Northern Europe, here are the best places to visit in Denmark.

  • Copenhagen
  • Helsingør
  • Aarhus
  • Humlebæk
  • Roskilde

Copenhagen

When talking about the best places to visit in Denmark, it’s easy to start off with the capital city – Copenhagen. The city is a cultural and historical hub that you must explore when visiting Denmark. Castles such as Frederiksborg are full of history and are a tourist’s dream.

If you’re visiting Denmark with family, you can treat them to Scandinavia’s most popular theme park; Tivoli Gardens which is home to a variety of rides, concerts, and theatres. You can even stop for some ice cream (for the kids!).

We will give you a heads up, there are water rides which will wet your clothes but our dry-cleaning services can help you with that!

Helsingør

If you love literature, you’ll love Helsingør. The town of Helsingør is significant historically because of its Shakespearean past and is one of the best places to visit in Denmark. The Kronborg Castle is popular among tourists and will make you feel part of a fairytale! The castle was the setting of William Shakespeare’s play; Hamlet. Wherever you go in Helsingør, it’s full of culture from museums, churches, and elegant palaces like the Fredensborg Palace.

Aarhus

Aarhus is a must when visiting Denmark. Originally starting as a Viking settlement in the eighth century, the city today is a major attraction with a vibrant city atmosphere, and it was named a European Capital of Culture in 2017. You’ll want to make sure your camera is ready because there are plenty of colourful buildings that will be great for your Instagram feed! An iconic spot to visit in Aarhus is the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum. You don’t have to be an art-lover to appreciate the sculpture of this gorgeous museum!

If you want to have a relaxed day, you can always visit the parks in Aargus Botanical Gardens and picnic there with your family! If you make a mess on your picnic mat or drop food on your clothes, Laundryheap has got you covered!

Humlebæk

Humlebæk is a small town that is worth visiting in Denmark. The town’s main attraction is the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art which is celebrated by artists and lovers of art regularly. What makes this museum popular is that it displays the works of famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Yves Klein etc.

After you’ve visited the museums, the town also offers must-try coffees at the Louisiana Café. If you’re visiting Denmark and humlebæk in the summer, sit back, enjoy your coffee and get your camera ready to take pictures of the views from the café!

Roskilde

We’ve mentioned Denmark’s rich history but one of the best places to visit in Denmark is Roskilde. Formerly Denmark’s capital city, Roskilde would amaze tourists who are keen to learn more about Vikings because you can visit the Viking Ship Museum and step back into time and relive the Vikings Era (don’t worry, it’s all educational fun!).

Roskilde also prides itself on hosting a music festival, the largest in Northern Europe. If you want to just vibe and sing out loud at the festivals, you are in the right place!

Visiting Denmark should be on your bucket list. Book your flights, experience the vibrant cities, visit the beautiful parks, and explore the city’s history through museums and castles!

On-Demand Laundry Service Laundryheap Acquires Laundrapp!

Laundryheap has completed the acquisition of Laundrapp, one of the key competitors in the UK laundry market industry. Founded in 2014 as a start-up on-demand laundry service, Laundryheap’s mission was to give the public a convenient laundry service and the growth certainly hasn’t stopped! Acquiring Laundrapp is a testament to the astronomical rise of Laundryheap.

What does this mean for Laundryheap?

The acquisition of Laundrapp means Laundryheap has expanded its regional reach across the UK, making us the market leader in the UK. Previously, Laundrapp acquired Wash box and merged with competitor Zipjet.

CEO and Founder Deyan Dmitrov made the following comments:

‘The acquisition of Laundrapp is a testament to the resilience of our model and ongoing demand for high-quality, reliable on-demand laundry services. We’re delighted to be expanding our UK footprint‘ Source: City A.M

Essentially, this also means Laundryheap’s customer base has increased. The hard work doesn’t stop, and the mission and objectives will remain the same. Laundryheap will still make it a key priority to give you, the consumer, the best on-demand laundry service that is fast, easy, and convenient for your laundry duties!

Laundry Made Easier with Laundryheap

What will happen to Laundrapp?

Laundrapp’s employees will be retained. Before the acquisition of Landrapp, both laundry services worked to make laundry easier for everyone and this won’t change now! We are looking forward to welcoming the team from Laundrapp and getting involved in working together!

Over the coming months, however, the Laundrapp brand will be replaced by the Laundryheap brand.

What’s next for Laundryheap?

The magnitude of Laundryheap’s success has been massive. Operating globally in countries such as UAE, Denmark, Singapore, Netherlands, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Ireland and USA was a success in its own right. Becoming the main market leader in the UK now bodes well for the future. There is still a (laundry) list of goals and objectives that we’ll work on.

The focus on helping the environment, even more, remains a priority still. Laundryheap has recently invested in e-cargo bikes. It’s great that customers get their laundry cleaned within 24 hours but doing it in a sustainable way is the icing on the cake!

on-demand laundry service!

We would like to thank everyone that has been involved in the journey since 2014! The Laundryheap members, partners and especially the customers have all been essential to the success and growth!

Book with Laundryheap today by visiting our website or downloading the free Laundryheap app on iOS or Android.

Dry cleaning myths debunked

There are a lot of dry cleaning myths. Here are 10 of them, debunked.

  • Dry cleaning is dry
  • Dry cleaning makes clothes smell bad
  • Dry cleaning is expensive
  • Club soda can remove stains just as well as dry cleaning
  • Excessive dry cleaning wears out clothing
  • It’s fine to store clothes in plastic dry cleaning bags
  • Dry cleaning a suit will leave it shiny
  • Dry cleaning helps clothes stay intact
  • Always adhere to ‘Dry Clean Only’ labels
  • There’s no need to dry clean a wedding dress

Dry cleaning is dry

Despite the name, dry cleaning doesn’t actually mean that your clothes are cleaned whilst dry. Dry cleaning is called as such because water isn’t used in the process. Instead of water, a chemical solvent, with a lower viscosity than water, is used because of its effectiveness at removing grease-based stains whilst minimally disturbing the fibres on clothing.

Dry cleaning makes clothes smell bad

If your clothes are coming back from the dry cleaners smelling strongly of chemicals, it’s time to source a new launderette. The smell is a result of the solvent that replaces the water in the cleaning process not being left long enough to be completely removed. In addition, if your clothes have a lingering bad odour, it comes as a result of the launderette not using clean solvent. That means soil, sweat and anything else trapped in the fibres of your clothing is being redeposited rather than cleaned off. A good dry cleaner will always use clean solvent and know the appropriate time to leave the solvent in for in order to produce high-quality, clean clothing.

Dry cleaning is expensive

If you are consistently dry cleaning your clothes than the cost can begin adding up. If you are only dry cleaning the essentials, such as delicate items of clothing, or you build up a substantial amount of clothing, then dry cleaning is the most sensible option.

Club soda can remove stains just as well as dry cleaning

Despite the speculation that club soda can remove stains from clothes, it can actually end up doing more damage than good. Rather than using club soda, dab the stain immediately with a white napkin. For the best result, take your stained clothing to a dry cleaners and inform them of the stain and what has caused it. That way, they can ensure the best treatment is used and the stain is more likely to be successfully removed.

Excessive dry cleaning wears out clothing

Continuously washing clothing will eventually wear out the colours and fibres of the item regardless of whether you use a dry cleaning service. Contrary to popular belief, dry cleaning your clothing will preserve your clothes for longer than using a regular wash. This is because dry cleaning solvent is lighter than water, and therefore travels through fabric in a much more delicate manner.

It’s fine to store clothes in plastic dry cleaning bags

Many people leave their clothing in the plastic bags that their dry cleaning comes in. This is very bad for your clothing. The reason that plastic bags are used for your dry cleaning is to prevent your clothes from being dirtied post-laundering. As soon as you get your clothing home, it is recommended to immediately take your items out of the plastic to allow your clothes to breathe. Leaving your clothes in the plastic bags could trap humidity and allow stains to oxidise and make the clothes harder to clean.

Dry cleaning a suit will leave it shiny

If your suit is looking shiny it is not a result of getting it dry-cleaned. The shininess of a suit comes from the fiction of wearing it day after day. That being said, if your dry cleaner is not sufficient at pressing suits you may notice some marks left behind.

Dry cleaning helps clothes stay intact

As previously mentioned, because of the lack of water used, dry cleaning is gentler on your clothing. This is not to necessarily say that all of your clothing needs to be dry cleaned to help them stay intact. We recommend that you always read the care label on your clothing. There are some items that are labelled “do not dry clean” because they have a protective layer coating the fabric. If these items are dry cleaned your clothing will not stay intact for long.

Always adhere to “dry clean only” labels

Care labels on clothing must be looked at so that you know how best to look after your clothing. More delicate fabrics, such as cashmere, will most likely come with a “dry clean only” label. It is always advisable to have delicate items of clothing dry-cleaned to avoid damage to the material, however, hand washing these items can sometimes work just as well. If you are hand-washing any delicate items remember to ALWAYS air dry your clothing to avoid damage to the fabric.

There’s no need to dry clean your wedding dress

For many people, their wedding dress will be worn on their wedding day and never again. If there are no visible stains on the dress, you may not see any reason to get it dry cleaned. Regardless of whether you can visibly see any stains, you should ALWAYS get your wedding dress dry cleaned. There will be sweat, deodorant and body oil stains on your dress from wearing it all day. Over time, these stains will turn a yellowish colour that will completely ruin your dress. Having your special dress dry cleaned will prevent this from happening so should you, or anyone else, wish to wear it again it will be just like new.

Our pack includes, soap, toilet paper, washing up liquid, shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste, cleaning liquid and liquid soap.

The essentials pack can be purchased for personal use, for a relative, friend or family member, or to send to someone in need. We are collaborating with AGE UK to send essentials to someone in need. Aquarius- the eco washer

If you’re an Aquarius then you are all about solving the problems of the world. You’re a humanitarian, progressive and intent on saving the world. That’s why when you wash you do it in the most eco-friendly way. Always using the most natural detergents, or making your own, and never buying laundry products that contain single-use plastic.

Pisces- the generous washer

This Zodiac sign is compassionate and intuitive, always willing to lend a hand. When it comes to their laundry, they’re the first to dish out the detergent and share their fabric softener. They’re an empathetic individual, always ready to help others in or out of the laundromat.

Aries- the impatient washer

Aries are enthusiastic and determined individuals and are always the first to put on their washing. However, this zodiac sign is notorious for being short-tempered and impatient- if their washing can’t be done on a ‘Quick-15’ setting it can lead to tantrums.

Taurus- the resilient washer

The complete opposite of the Aries, a Taurus is patient and resilient. A Taurus will always see a task through and will patiently wait for their washing to be done- no matter how long that may take.

Gemini- the sneaky washer

Gemini’s have a tendency to be restless. They can’t stay still for too long, so washing their clothes proves to be their worst nightmare. Watch out, because their quick-witted and gentle nature makes them very appealing and could lead to them off-loading their dirty laundry on you.

Cancer- the loyal washer

Cancer proves to be the most loyal Zodiac sign of them all. After finding a laundry detergent that works for them they will never leave it. They are very pessimistic about new detergents and softeners making their way into the laundry market and would much rather stick to their tried and tested methods.

Leo- the dominant washer

This fire sign dominates every aspect of their life, including the way they do their laundry. They are natural-born leaders with a knack for organisation, so their laundry is always perfectly timed and completed on schedule.

Virgo- the strict washer

Virgo’s are analytical, hard-working and practical. They often have a methodical approach to life and they treat their laundry in the same way. Their clothes are washed on a schedule and in the most practical way.

Libra- the friendly washer

The Libra will avoid confrontation at any cost, so if you’re looking for someone to do your washing for you search for a Libra. They are one of the more social zodiac signs, so, if you do ask them to do your washing, make sure you sit and have a chat with them first.

Scorpio- the determined washer

Scorpio’s are determined. Any task they set their mind to will be completed, whether it’s a project at work, or getting to the bottom of their laundry heap.

Sagittarius- the lazy washer

The Sagittarius is constantly on the move. They love to travel and hate being confined in one space for too long. Undoubtedly, they won’t even begin their washing until they have absolutely nothing left to wear. They are too curious for washing- they want to explore the world, not their laundry basket.

Capricorn- the disciplined washer

Capricorns possess a sense of discipline and self-control like none of the other Zodiac signs. Everything in their lives in spotless- especially their laundry. They are excellent managers and take full control over their lives, including their laundry, which is always done to the highest standard.

Cleaning Leather Tips

Leather goods are remarkably durable and hardwearing, but sometimes leather does need to be taken care of.  The subject of cleaning leather can be quite a sensitive subject amongst leather enthusiasts.

Because of the properties of leather, using the same cleaning methods as you would when washing clothes is going to result in damaged leather goods. Basic methods for cleaning leather are generally simple, can be done at home, and can tackle stains, grease, and all the other bad stuff we get on our leather products.

  • Always start with a great leather protector
  • Know your different types of leather
  • Removing grease stains
  • Getting rid of denim stains
  • Cleaning leather bags or purses
  • How to clean leather furniture
  • Suede needs special treatment
  • Cleaning leather naturally

Always start with a great leather protector

Before you begin to think about cleaning your new leather product, you must first think about how you will protect it. It is imperative to protect your bag before taking it out for the first time.

For smooth leathers, we recommend using an appropriate leather cream. This will create a layer of protection over the leather and will defend it from scratches. Similarly, applying the cream after you have already used the product will minimise any existing marks the item might have picked up already.

Know your different types of leather

Leather products are not all created in the same way. So that also means we have to use different techniques when cleaning different types of leather. Leather, suede and nubuck all require different methods of cleaning.

With this in mind, you should always approach with caution when cleaning leather. We advise testing the product on an inconspicuous area of the item first, making sure to apply with a slight hand – never use unnecessary force. When cleaning grained leather, you can use the same leather cleaner but must apply it differently. This can be done by using a leather-cleaning brush to apply the soap, ensuring the solution finds its way into the grooves of the leather.

Removing grease stains

There are endless amounts of ways we can procure grease stains on our leather products. Hand cream is often one of the main culprits, which is why you so often find fingerprint-like stains on the handles of your leather bag. The problem with grease-based stains is that they absorb so quickly.

If you listened to our first piece of advice and protected your leather, you will have some time to remove the marks before they settle in. Although, if you haven’t followed this first step, the grease will absorb into the leather. Consequently, the stain will darken and leave an oily mark on the leather. If you are at home and can get to some cornstarch fast, then do so, apply it onto the stain to soak up the greasy residue. Talcum powder is also a great tool for soaking up the grease. We advise applying to the affected area and leaving overnight.

leather jacket

Getting rid of denim stains

Denim stains are some of the most common when it comes to leather products. These stains occur when the leather rubs against a pair of jeans (or indeed, a denim jacket). The dye used in denim is similar to hair dye, meaning it will penetrate fast and deep. If the leather is a pale colour, these stains will be painfully visible.

A suitably protected (as mentioned above) piece of leather will repel the indigo dye for a longer duration than something unprotected. If, however, you have no protected that new leather handbag, then the key to cleaning denim stains depends on speed. The cleaner should be applied to the leather the second the dye has marked the leather. The longer the mark is left on the leather, the higher the chance it will be absorbed into the fibres.

Cleaning leather bags and purses

Leather bags and purses are the most susceptible to stains as they are used frequently and often come into contact with drinks, food and the floor. Thankfully, there is a simple method that can be done at home to tackle these challenging stains.

Start with mixing one part mild soap – anything like facial soap or delicate clothes detergent – with eight parts water. We advise using bottled water, if possible, to avoid any harmful particles in tap water. After that, pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray onto a microfiber cloth. Avoid spraying directly onto the leather as this can cause over-saturation. Next, gently wipe the stain, going with the grain of the leather. Once the stain has faded, leave the bag to dry, keeping it out of sunlight. Finally, once the bag is dry, apply a pea-sized amount of leather moisturiser to protect the material.

How to clean leather furniture

Many people love leather furniture, but few actually know a lot about leather care. This can lead to many sofas and cushions being wrecked by stains that are easy to care for. A common mistake is using heavy-duty household cleaners, which can lead to the leather becoming worn, so make sure to choose a much gentler soap.

Firstly, vacuum the furniture to remove any dust or particles before cleaning. After that, use a cloth to wipe a small amount of mild detergent onto the furniture. With a separate cloth, wipe again with cold, clean water, making sure you don’t over-saturate the fabric. Lastly, leave to dry out of direct sunlight to ensure the colour does not fade. Remember to spot test your chosen cleaning product on a small area before applying to the whole sofa. You don’t want to do any further damage to your leather furniture when trying to clean.

Suede needs special treatment

You should clean suede and nubuck more regularly than conventional leather products. This is because removing stains from these materials can be complicated. These materials need different treatment entirely. They can react very differently depending on finish, colour or stain, so we would generally recommend leaving this cleaning jobs to the professionals.

To start off, find a soft-bristled brush, ideally a suede brush but you can also use a toothbrush if that’s all you have. Use the brush to go over the affected area. Gently brush the stain using short, gentle strokes. Make sure you always go in the same direction to start with as this will help loosen the fibres and dirt. Next, lightly go over the affected area with a clean sponge.

Cleaning leather naturally

If you do not want to use cleaning products on your leather, you can try steam cleaning it. You can do this by hanging your purse or bag in the bathroom just after you take a hot shower. The damp air will loosen the stains. Once that is done, leave the bag to dry before going back over it with a soft-bristled brush.

There are also a variety of household products that can be very beneficial for cleaning leather. Lemon juice mixed with cream of tartar works well for removing spots and stains. Likewise, white vinegar can be used for general cleaning to ensure the material remains healthy.

If you don’t feel comfortable treating your leather products yourself, why not seek professional help? Laundryheap offers a quick and professional service with free next day delivery.

LAUNDRY ON THE GO

If you happen to travel continuously, doing the laundry is certainly a necessity as you may spend a tremendous amount of time outdoors on adventure activities, sightseeing, hiking, or shopping etc. For shorter holidays people tend to pack just what is necessary or things that we can mix and match most of the time.

Here are some tips to help with your laundry on the go.

Hotels: Some hotels offer in-house laundry services. Depending on the type of hotel you’re staying at e.g. big chains, serviced apartments, B&B etc. you may have access to laundry services or facilities. However, their rates may be sky-high which might not be your cup of tea. Moreover, if you’re someone who’s concerned about their clothes being mixed with others’ clothes this might not be ideal for you, as there is no guarantee it won’t be the case.
